What Care Does Avendelle Assisted Living Offer?

A family care home is a regular house where a small staff cares for up to six residents. Your parent gets the same few caregivers every day, which suits people who feel lost in a large building.

Assisted living at home

Around the clock personal care, medication help, three meals and three snacks a day, and visiting physicians. Rooms are private at most homes, and Maynard and Tryon each give residents their own bathroom.

Dementia

The homes accept residents with memory loss, but a family care home cannot have a state licensed memory care unit. All five homes have alarms on exit doors, and Maynard and Tryon list an anti wandering system, so ask whether doors are locked.

What Daily Life Looks Like

Life in a care home is quieter than in a large community. Meals are cooked in the home's kitchen, and days follow a household rhythm rather than a big activity calendar.

  • Private bedrooms at most homes; Kildaire Farm also has semi private rooms
  • Three home cooked meals and three snacks a day
  • Caregivers in the home around the clock
  • Visiting physicians
  • Alarms on exit doors at every home

What Does Avendelle Assisted Living Cost?

Avendelle does not publish its rates. Small care homes usually charge one monthly rate that rises with care needs. Ask me for current pricing and I will tell you which homes have an open room and what each costs.

What Does the State Inspection Record Show?

None of the five Cary homes has had a state fine in the past three years. Here is each home's current state rating:

  • Avendelle on Maynard, 1104 SE Maynard Road: 4 stars (March 2025); its last two annual inspections found no problems
  • Avendelle on Tryon, 6645 Tryon Road: 4 stars (June 2025); clean inspections in 2024 and 2025 after a 2022 inspection found missed wound care and circulation checks
  • Avendelle on Kildaire Farm, 115 Steep Bank Drive: 4 stars (April 2025); a 2024 building inspection cited a back deck step without a handrail and fire drill logs that weren't on hand
  • Avendelle at MacArthur, 142 Trafalgar Lane: 3 stars (September 2026); its first two inspections found no problems
  • Avendelle at Picardy Point, 1902 Talloway Drive: newly licensed, not yet inspected or rated

MacArthur shows 3 stars despite a high score because a home needs two annual inspections in a row scoring 100 or more to earn 4.

What I'd Ask on a Tour

These are the questions I make sure get answered when I tour Avendelle Assisted Living with a family.

  • Which home has an open room, and who your parent's housemates would be
  • How many caregivers are on duty overnight
  • Whether exit doors are locked or only alarmed
  • At Kildaire Farm, whether the 2024 deck and fire drill items are fixed
  • When a resident would need to move to a larger setting
