How Does Searstone's Pricing Work?
Searstone charges an entrance fee plus a monthly fee. New residents choose a 100 percent refundable contract, where the home portion is refunded after your residence is resold and the life care portion declines to zero over 50 months. Searstone doesn't publish its rates, and a waitlist spot costs $5,300, of which $5,000 is refundable. You can read the latest disclosure statement filed with the state. Ask me for current pricing and I will walk you through it.
How Are Searstone's Health Center and Finances?
Every state nursing home inspection of the Brittany Place health center posted since 2014 found no deficiencies, most recently in October 2025. You can see them on the state nursing home record for Brittany Place.
Searstone's 2025 financial filing shows independent living nearly full at about 98 percent, and the community met all of its loan requirements. It also shows an accumulated deficit of about $103 million, operating expenses about 12 percent higher than revenue in 2025, and assisted living and nursing occupancy of roughly 49 and 66 percent while the new health center beds fill. Losses are common while an expansion fills up, but they are worth asking about.
What I'd Ask on a Tour
These are the questions I make sure get answered when I tour Searstone with a family.
- How full the assisted living and nursing beds are now, and the plan to fill them
- How the 2025 financial results affect future monthly fee increases
- What the health center dining fee is today, and what else is extra under life care
- How long the waitlist is for the home you want
- Whether the health center accepts Medicare for short rehab stays
